Jasper City School District recognized for achieving Marzano Level 2 Certification: Effective Teaching in Every Classroom
The Jasper City School System was recently recognized at the Marzano High Reliability Schools Summit in San Antonio, Texas. All five Jasper City Schools in the district have achieved Level 2 Certification: “Effective Teaching in Every Classroom”, which focuses on the responsibility of both school leaders and teachers in ensuring high-quality instruction. The Jasper City School District is the first school district in the state of Alabama to achieve HRS Level 2 Certification.
A big thank you to the principals, faculty, and all the staff involved in making this happen—your hard work is truly making a difference. This accomplishment is a testament to the commitment to excellence at Jasper City Schools!
PowerSchool Cybersecurity Incident
Notice Regarding Cybersecurity Incident
Jasper City Schools was recently informed on January 7, 2025, of a cybersecurity incident involving PowerSchool, the provider of our district’s student information system. On December 28, 2024, PowerSchool identified unauthorized access to certain customer data through its PowerSource portal.
PowerSchool has confirmed that the incident has been contained, with no evidence of ongoing unauthorized activity or disruptions to operations. The affected data may include personal information such as names, addresses, and email addresses. However, Social Security numbers were not involved.
PowerSchool will offer credit monitoring and identity protection services to those whose sensitive data was compromised. Please note that this may not apply to clients in Alabama, as our district does not collect or store highly sensitive data, such as Social Security numbers.
Jasper City Schools is actively working with PowerSchool to ensure that clear and timely communication is provided to families, educators, and other stakeholders. We are committed to keeping our community informed and addressing any concerns that may arise.
